Re: Paqueta Charged
Biggest irony (no pun intended!) is that it was Betway who reported the suspicious betting patterns to the International Betting Integrity Association "after their alert system was triggered".

You couldn't make this shit up.

Re: Paqueta Charged
This is unfortunate. I was counting on us having the 85 mill to add to the extra 50-60 mill we are supposed to have for a decent total budget.
However I am optimistic that Earthy and Orford might be added to the first team squad and save us money in the midfield area.
If Paqueta is found guilty and suspended for a lengthy period we might have to cut our losses and ditch him. His attitude on the pitch at times annoys me so much we might not miss him in the end.

This just makes me appreciate all the more the long
magnificent service we received from Sir Trevor
Brooking!

If there is any kind of evidence of wrongdoing such as voice recordings, text, whatsapp, email etc then he’s fucked. But if these charges are based on heresay or supposition then he might be ok.
Unfortunately he’s probably stupid enough to have dropped himself (and us) right in it.
Wave goodbye to that £85 mill, and him quite likely.

I'm guessing he wouldn't have been charged if they didn't have evidence and good reason.

Which they did as a matter of principle and he never paid. He still owes them €17m

Always thought this bloke is a massive cunt. Decent and skillful player but acts like a complete twat on the pitch with his diving, play acting and showboating and I would imagine he is a massic cunt off the pitch too!

Another example more recently - player got a 10 year ban for just one booking (Kynan Isaac)

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63302914

The betting companies will supply the identities and locations of the people placing the bets - if they identify a connection to the player and he refuses to cooperate then he's fucked basically

I assume the ban would be worldwide (except Russia maybe?)

I didn't say anything about the amount he could be sued for just that he could be sued.

Chelsea sued Mutu for "having committed a breach of his contract without just cause" and he was ordered to pay them £14.3m in damages. Better than a kick in the teeth.

Effiing Idiot…

If true…club should sue the fuck out of him and his family/conspirators…

What, sue him for the £85m we'll lose, plus wages paid to him while he was spot-fixing? Yeah, that'll fly

Re: Paqueta Charged
Blimey Roots wants him banished with no proof of guilt.. Also accused him of doing it in a game that nobody has mentioned

Wasn't he provoked against Leverkusen, I thought a couple of unpublished bad tackles had just happened.

Here is a precedent. The Lincoln City player got two yellows on purpose and he got a 5 year ban.

If Paqueta gets something similar surely the Club can sue him - must be something in his employment contract about acting in a manner which inhibits his ability to play football.

Only West Ham!

Chelsea did when Adrian Muti got a drug ban, Greenie.

Unless there is some prove of communication to set this up, I do not see how it can be proven. My understanding is a lot of money was put on it happening and it did happen so the bookies are a little upset and suspicious.

Re: Paqueta Charged
If guilty and banned, can the club sue the player?

Re: Paqueta Charged
A football club invests millions in a player, so surely the club have some kind of insurance that would cover this scenario?

I just wish those useless cunts at the FA would decide on the punishment and we can then plan around it, the bastards dragging it on forever just causes problems

Re: Paqueta Charged
He's disrespected the entire club, the players and the fans. Hopefully never wears the shirt again.
I now believe the Leverkusen booking was dodgy too, at the time I thought it was plain idiotic but now it makes sense.
We'll never know, but that alone could have cost us The Europa League. Unforgivable.

His only saving grace is that Brazilian football is corrupt as fuck and there are some high level nasty fuckers involved in betting fixed, however they would usually target those players that are not on big wages, but I guess this could go way back to when he was in Brazil.
